The name

An aura is the atmosphere around a place, the thing you sense before you can list the facts. Aura of India uses that word for the country. The rings in the mark are the same idea: something at the centre, and the sense of it spreading outward.

Who it is for

The stories are in English, for a reader in India and for a reader abroad who has never stood in the place. A word that is ordinary here is explained in the sentence, once. The Ganges is also the Ganga. The stone stairs down to a river are ghats. After that, the story trusts you.

A story each morning

One story. A state, a city, a food, a temple, a place, a festival, a craft, a market, or a monument. It shows what is there, how people use it, and why someone crosses a state, or a country, to stand in it.
